People seek counseling for a number of reasons, from struggles with depression and anxiety, grief, overcoming trauma, seeking to improve relationships, or for the opportunity to explore one's inner self. At Rising Hope Counseling & Consulting, PC (RHCC) we believe in providing services that will support the mental health needs of Grand Island and the surrounding communities in a way that fits the needs of each individual. We provide individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling, as well as a number of mental health training and consultation opportunities.
At RHCC we provide counseling from integrated perspectives. This means we take a holistic view, considering circumstantial, biological, relational, historical, multicultural, familial, and spiritual perspectives when working with people. We seek to honor each individual's identities and attempt to understand how each individual views and interacts with the world. We take a person-centered and interpersonal approach to counseling which allows us to prioritize the therapeutic relationship in order to create a space that feels safe for each individual to explore, challenge, and grow.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is a meeting between an individual person and a therapist. Counseling is provided on a frequency decided by each individual and their therapist, according to their clinical needs. As each individual moves closer to meeting their goals, sessions may be scheduled farther apart in order for each individual to fully integrate their therapeutic progress into their everyday lives. For some, as your original struggles become less life impacting, you and your therapist may conclude that there is no need for continued counseling. For others, you may be presenting with larger life questions or areas of exploration that may extend the duration of your counseling services, even after troublesome symptoms have passed. In both circumstances the therapeutic relationship will be an integral part of collaboratively creating a space that provides safety and trust for each individual to engage authentically in sharing their story and in being heard.
Counseling typically consists of a combination of processing or, talking through issues to gain a different understanding and/or new perspective, and a more concrete process of acquiring skills to assist you in your therapeutic work and everyday life. Our short-term goal is to work ourselves out of a job by empowering you to move through current struggles while learning how to recognize future struggles and implement skills to minimize the disruption the struggles can cause in your everyday life. Long-term we hope you find a greater understanding and acceptance of yourself as valuable; that you may live a journey filled with hope.
Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling
Marriage, couples and family counseling is a meeting between members of a marriage, couple or family and a therapist. Marriage, couples and family therapy also prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and seeks to create a space where all members of the family can feel safe, valued, heard, and seen. Each member has a story to tell and members may have different stories linked to the same experience. Helping couples and families to communicate, hear one another, and value what each member has to contribute, as well as displaying consistency and accountability are just some of the goals of effective couples and family counseling. Marriage, couples and family counseling may consist of processing, learning helpful skills, and creative techniques that work to provide the couple and/or family with new perspectives and more effective ways of communicating and functioning as a couple and/or family unit. Therapy duration may vary according to each couples' and family's needs, goals, and availability.
